Aims and Principles of Good Attendance
There is a clear link between good attendance and educational achievement. Those pupils who attend school every day make better progress than their peers. Regular and punctual attendance is vital if pupils are to benefit fully from the academic, personal and social opportunities that are offered here at Broom Valley.
We believe that a good morning routine supports our pupils to learn throughout the school day. To help our pupils to be ready for the school day we offer:
From 8am we offer breakfast and and drink for pupils from F2 to Y6.
Trained staff members come and collect pupils from their homes. The pupils enjoy a walk to school with a familiar friendly face. On arrival at school, pupils are taken to their classes.
We monitor attendance daily. If your child is going to be absent due to sickness please inform school by 8.30am. Anna Wilson, who is based in the school office, will follow up any pupil absence for whom we have received no phone call.
Pupils must arrive at school for 8.55am. Any pupil arriving after this time must report to the school office.
