On behalf of the children, staff and Governors, we welcome you to Broom Valley Community Primary School in Rotherham. We are a vibrant, inclusive and family orientated school with a strong community ethos within South Yorkshire. I am so proud to be Headteacher of this caring community of learners with a fantastic staff team, dedicated Governors, supportive parents and happy, engaged children.
We believe that education is about the entire child, their well-being and enrichment as well as their academic achievement. Over the last couple of years, we have worked as a team to enhance the academic success, curriculum, and a love of reading. There is still more to come! We’d love you to be a part of our journey as we strive for our entire community to DARE to DREAM BIG!

This week our F1 children have been having endless fun exploring the colder weather. They especially loved playing in the snow!

Thank you to Jungle Jo, for coming in to see us and we hope to see you again soon! We were all very brave and we got to handle many different types of animals.

Y1 Robots
In Year 1 this week we have had so much fun learning about robots. We have programmed our Bee-bots and taken extra care when giving it commands to make sure it arrives at the correct destination on our grids. We had so much fun.

Egg Hatch
F2 have received a special delivery of eggs today! The children predicted what could be inside and we finally had the first egg hatch in front of our eyes! It's a duckling!!!

World Book Day
World Book Day is upon us and two children dressed up as Lila and her brother Max, from Katherine Rundell -The Explorer book. Amazing costumes including Baca the sloth.

Clifton Park Museum
Year 3 have arrived safely at Clifton Park Museum for a day full of Stone Age activities!
Y1 Science
In our Y1 science learning this week we are deepening our knowledge on plants and conducting a practical experiment by planting seeds and observing changes over time. We can't wait to see our plants grow!

In Y6, we have really been enjoying our geography topic all about North America. We have now finished gathering our information and are looking forward to presenting it to our panel of experts next week!

Pupil Parliament meet Sarah Chapion MP!
Thank you @SarahChampionMP for visiting us! Our Y1 Pupil Parliament members got to meet her and they told her how they became elected and what their role entails. We have many aspiring future politicians here at BVCS.
Y1 meet Sarah Champion MP!
Yr 1 have been thinking about how our local area can be improved. We had a walk to Clifton Park. This helped us to think of some suggestions for our special visitor @SarahChampionMP
We used our oracy skills #Voice21 and gave reasons for our opinions and made use of sentence stems.

Y1 Geography Local Walk
As part of our Geography learning we went on a walk around our local area today. We noted the different types of houses that are in our community and different types of shops. We noticed solar panels on roofs, cycle lanes and telephone posts.
When we arrived at Clifton Park we noticed deciduous and evergreen trees and different types of plant. We also spent some time in the play area, that was lots of fun too!

Young Voices 2026
What a day! #teamBVCS were incredible at #YoungVoices. They represented our school so well and sung beautifully in a choir of over 5000 children. We can’t wait for Young Voices 2027! @YVconcerts @SheffieldArena

Y5 PSHE Assembly
Year 5 Redwood are very excited to have created an assembly for PSHE. We are looking at how we can work well together in class and outside of the classroom. Every pupil has a speaking role and we will update with pictures later in the week!
Y1 Science
In Y1 science we've been learning about plants. This week, we have been identifying and describing their basic structures. We really embraced working scientifically and have been using observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions. We enjoyed getting our hands dirty!
Y2 Boccia Tournament
Year 2 had an absolutely amazing morning at the Boccia tournament! We are thrilled to say we won the tournament and came 1st place!

Y5 Spacedome
The Y5's enjoyed their visit from The Spacedome and learning about the Solar System and our galaxy!
Whatever Next, by Jill Murphy
Our F1 children have been enjoying reading Whatever Next by Jill Murphy. We have been hard at work creating our very own rockets and thinking about where we would like to adventure to.
