Computing at Broom Valley

In today's digital age, we believe it is imperative that all children are equipped to use computational thinking, are digitally literate and are prepared and ready to take their next steps into an ever more online world. Online safety is at the heart of our teaching, woven through both Computing and PSHE and retrieved often on a variety of software. We have taken a 3-year staged approach to our Computing curriculum to ensure that all children have the necessary foundation skills and prior knowledge they need to achieve. The Sheffield Primary Computing Scheme provides us with a consistent, carefully sequenced approach to teaching and learning. We are in year 3 of the roll out of this phased approach: see the progression maps below.

In Year 1 we began looking at algorithms in our computer lessons. We had fun working out Miss Heaton's algorithm that she had programmed into the computer. We chose an algorithm and programmed it into our Bee-Bots. Our partners had to work out which algorithm we had chosen.
