“Together We Dare To Dream Big”

Y6 Curriculum

Welcome to Y6’s class page!

The Year 6 team are delighted to welcome pupils back for the Autumn term. This term, your teachers will be Miss Revill and Mrs Lillie, supported by our dedicated learning assistants, Mrs Jones and Mrs Lendrum.

We will begin the term with an exciting Art topic focused on creating the illusion of movement in our work. Using a variety of materials—including pencil, paint, and clay—we will explore different techniques to bring our artwork to life.
In the second half of the term, we’ll shift our focus to working with wood to design and make a product to sell at our Winter Wonderland market.
In addition to our main topics, you will continue to build your skills in French, PE, Computing, RE and PSHE, all taught on a weekly basis. In Science, we will dive into the circulatory system and also explore the fascinating world of electricity.

#Rotherhamlovesreading

Our core text for writing and reading is:
  • Evernight by Ross MacKenzie
Things to remember:
  • Y6 will receive weekly, Friday homework to complete over the weekend and return on the following Monday. This will focus on knowledge or skills taught that week so the children have more opportunity to practise.
  • PE lessons are on Thursdays and Fridays so children need to come in their PE kit on those days. Please ensure your child wears suitable clothing (not jeans or boots). PE kits include a white T-shirt and black/blue joggers/leggings/shorts with trainers/pumps.
